Description

I made this piece and variations in response to unwarranted and illogical censorship of womens' bodies and Art in the Crypto/NFT space, after noticing well known male Artists could portray the female body intimately and suffer no repercussions. But it is even more pertinent now with the recent retraction of womens’ rights via overturning of Roe vs. Wade in the U.S. Most notably Beeple published ‘Vagina Mine’ in late Nov 2021:

portraying wide open female anatomy with an army marching into it and it was seemingly perfectly acceptable on social media. Yet less graphic work by females is censored, hidden or outright removed. It exemplified continuing disparity in gender attitudes where women's Art is banned off Digital Art platforms and social media. This underlines blatant power play permitted only by privilege; the space was meant to be about a decentralization of creativity and ideas, as well as finance - but it’s seemingly an illusion. The series title playfully references the North American Bill of Rights and also riffs off mid-late 1960s Warhol colourization and style, a time when sexual/gender liberation and identity was only just blossoming around the world and Artists like Andy were pushing the envelope in their work, in that respect.
