This work developed through the layering of several painting processes and digital manipulation to achieve the final result. The initial stages included the crumpling up of the canvas, the use of decalcomania and brush work with oil paints.
The work may recall an abstract rocky landscape which once beheld the activity of some form of life, which has since dried out, hence the name “The Forgotten”.
Although my work may be viewed as abstract, I always tend to add an element of depth and three dimensionality to the forms. The resulting work could resemble some kind of existing structure which may differ in interpretation depending on the viewer. It may at times recall the works of surrealists such as Max Ernst, who has been a big influence on my work.
