My mother was born in Istanbul in 1954, a daughter of East & the West. My grandfather was a western man and my grandmother embodied eastern culture. Growing up in this family, which is typical of Turkish society, often caused contradictions between her character, wishes and dreams. This project is not only the story of my mother, but also of women and LGBTQIA+s of Turkey who feel stuck. Women and LGBTQIA+s who are de-identified while trying to build an identity in Turkey's both conservative and 'modern', that is, in-between society. My primary goal in this project is to continue this project, which we started with my mother, with the people in my safe space, in memory of my mother, with the identities we built with solidarity and the selves we set free despite everything.
