Becoming Sentient explores the fragile threshold between human intuition and machine logic. Mechanical form and flowing color coexist in tension, suggesting a moment where emotion resists automation. Rather than depicting artificial intelligence as complete or autonomous, the work focuses on becoming, a state of uncertainty, vulnerability, and emergence shared by both the artist and the system used to create it. It was always understood that art and technology would eventually merge like this, blurring the lines between reality, art and tech, together creating emotional tension. The humanoids represent the struggles and triumphs that come with this merging of biology and technology, as well as the impact it has on the artist and the creative process. My personal journey of incorporating technology into art for over three decades heavily influences these images, which serves somewhat as a world self-portrait for the AI revolution and the age of artificial intelligence.
