Animals in Distress - Animals of Mariupol #3

Animals of Mariupol is a series of several artworks that invite people to witness suffering that animals experience during times of war.

City of Mariupol is chosen as a symbol of war because this is a city that was ravaged by Russian troops the most during the terrorist invasion. War in Ukraine is the closest and most important war happening to my hometown of Vilnius, it is a war that everyone can relate to within the eastern part of Europe.

During armed conflicts humans aren't the only ones who die in unimaginable pain, animals suffer too. Our companions are abandoned, especially those who are in shelters. Their caretakers just die without being able to release or feed sheltered animals. In the early days of war in Ukraine there were many reports about domestic animals dying from hunger and thirst, jailed and alone.
