Finding Reason
An allegory of hope, defiance and freedom, steeped in nature’s profound call of reason.
This work explores the artist’s intuitive response to nature and external environments. Celebrating the arrival of spring, a hand-drawn, digital-native sketch serves as a starting point for the exploratory process. Distorting layers (manually manipulated, digitally) results in an organic composition revealing an interplay between space, confinement and contortion. The composition may be considered a visual reference for defiance and freedom.
Indeed, the arrival of spring offers a vibrant palette and profound awakening of the senses. Pondering the seasons as a metaphor for the cyclic nature of life, winter’s (often) dull skies and dose of blustery winds, serve as a metaphor for inertia, disappointment and struggle. As such, the arrival of a new season, spring, is synonymous with hope, renewal and an intrinsic essence of life.
Distortion lends to visual inquiry of subjective beauty found in imperfection, while also seeking to subvert. In a world driven by appearance and perceived perfection, this work is an invitation to question beyond appearances and conceived aesthetics, and embark on a journey of trust, discovery and reason.
