Description (The Scarlet Veil)

The Scarlet Veil emerges from the intersection of myth and memory. A woman’s face is covered by a crimson net, not to protect but to silence. The red threads are woven from centuries of unspoken pain—blood turned into fabric, wounds transformed into ritual.

In ancient myths, veils often concealed divine power or hidden truths. Here, however, the veil becomes a weapon of oppression. It erases the woman’s voice, blurs her identity, and replaces her presence with silence. Yet the very color of this veil refuses invisibility: scarlet, the hue of revolt, of forbidden desire, of sacred blood.

This image belongs to a lineage of women who have been forced into shadows, their lives dictated by laws written in patriarchal ink. The veil is both their prison and their paradox—covering them, yet hinting at the fire beneath.

The Scarlet Veil is not just an object of concealment; it is a monument of resistance. Behind the mesh, the eyes still burn, the breath still moves, the soul still waits for release. What is hidden cannot be destroyed—it only transforms, waiting for the moment to pierce through the threads of silence.

This work asks: when the veil is finally lifted, what new myths will be born?
