Description

The "African Female Warrior 03" is one of twelve (12) images in the "African Female Warriors Series I". It was inspired by several real life African female warriors who engaged in battle as revolutionaries, and/or members of an organized army on the continent of Africa. These legendary African women warriors include… Nzinga Mbande, Queen of the Ambundu Kingdoms of Ndongo and Matamba (present-day northern Angola); Queen Amanirenas of the Kingdom of Kush (present-day northern Sudan and southern Egypt); Yaa Asantewaa I, Warrior Queen Mother of Ejisu in the Ashanti Empire (part of present-day Ghana); Princess Yennenga, mother of the Mossi empire (present-day Burkina Faso); Aqualtune, princess of Kongo (present-day northern Angola and portions of the Congo); and one of the few documented female armies in modern history... the Agojie warriors of the West African kingdom of Dahomey (present-day Benin). The all-female army of Dahomey warriors was known as "Agojie" by the Fon people but was named "Dahomey Amazons" by Western Europeans. The "African Female Warriors Series I" were created with the assistance of artificial intelligence. The image may be interpreted differently through the eyes and imagination of the viewer.
