Sometimes, you really do just happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Twice a year, the shadow of the West Mitten is cast perfectly onto the East Mitten during sunset. By some stroke of luck, we happened to be at Monument Valley on the exact day in September 2019 when this occurred.

We watched in awe as the soft golden light kissed the vast landscape before us: the wide open sky, punctuated only by towering natural monuments. The shadow was perfectly aligned for a few fleeting moments before the sun carried on its journey beyond the horizon.

To this day, it remains one of the most memorable natural spectacles I've ever witnessed. A high five from the gods.
