Still image captured from the output of a DVD player. Either the data I encoded to the DVD was corrupt (source was abstract to begin with), or the DVD was unable to handle the data rate (over 8MBps).

Combinations of techniques, spanning misuse of software and interventions in the circuitry of media devices was one line of experimentation conducted for Year of the Glitch. Through circuit bending, it's possible to gain enough experience with and understanding of electronics to begin to develop custom circuitry. By hacking a VGA cable and inserting arbitrary voltages in place of the normal RGB signals, it's possible to create an analog VGA video synthesizer. Such a device was used to generate the source video of 028 of 366, which was burned to a DVD and played back on a DVD player into a video capture device. Though both the video capture device and the DVD player could have been bent, the focus was on bending the DVD player.
