RubenFro is the creative practice of Ruben Frosali, an Italian visual effects artist and director based in Tokyo.,He creates animated artworks and large-scale stage visuals from volumetric point clouds and Gaussian Splats, turning 3D scans of real places into dissolving, memory-like scenes.,,
Frosali moved to Tokyo in 2006and worked in IT before turning fully to art.In 2019 he worked with other artists on the Future Cities installations, exhibited in Japan, Taiwan and New Zealand. In January 2020 he released Dissolving Realities, a series depicting daily life in Hanoi frozen in time through volumetric point clouds.,It was exhibited in festivals and events including Mutekand, together with his other series, has been shown across Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, Europe and the United States.He quit his career in IT in June 2021 to open TRIDOT, his own studio for cinematic visual effects, live visuals and immersive installations in Tokyo.,
He has served as Head of Cinematics at JADU AR, contributing to cinematic trailers, AR and XR prototypes and real-time visual development, and collaborated with the director Michael Bay on the cinematic trailer for JADU AVAs.His stage visuals have featured in shows for the artist Anyma, including The End of Genesys residency at Sphere Las Vegas and the ÆDEN World Tour, and for Afterlife-affiliated shows with Tale Of Us in cities including Milan, Miami and at Tomorrowland Amsterdam.,,He also co-directed the point cloud visualizer for Paul Kalkbrenner's track Dreaming On with Max Holtey,and created a fusion of scanned, glitching worlds with Street Fighter characters for the announcement trailer of the 2025 Red Bull BC One World Final in Tokyo.For Mohamed Bourouissa's short film Généalogie de la violence, he contributed point cloud visual effects representing a character's psychological dissociation, a film that won the Grand Prix and Special Effects Award at Clermont-Ferrand and was later selected for the 2026 César awards' short fiction category.
Outside commercial work, he has published research projects such as Skyrim on Vision Pro, a 2023 concept imagining how the game could be adapted for spatial computing headsets, and Splat Raycasting for Robot Locomotion, a 2026 experiment using Gaussian splat data to let a procedural robot navigate a generated 3D environment.,
