Rik Oostenbroek is a self-taught Dutch digital artist based in Hilversum, Netherlands, working across illustration, 3D, typography and color-driven abstraction. He discovered CGI and Photoshop around 2006 after a friend showed him the work of an Austrian designer, and began posting his own abstract images on DeviantArt.
At eighteen, a commission from Volkswagen paying 1,200 euros persuaded him that design could be a career, and after finishing high school he chose not to continue his formal education, teaching himself the craft instead. He went freelance in 2009 and built a client list that came to include Apple, Nike, Adobe, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, later serving as a global ambassador for HP and being named among Lürzer's Archive's 200 best digital artists of 2017-2018.,
In 2022 he held the solo exhibition Arcus at Open.Space in Amsterdam. For Echoes, an audiovisual project made for PROOF Grails, he paired his gradient-based visual work with an original score by the Polish producer OVACHINSKY, and the piece was exhibited at USN Tokyo and Foundry LA.In 2023 he held a solo exhibition at the MOCO Museum and showed at Art Miami during Art Basel Miami. His work was also included in “Collecting Art Onchain”, a book and NFT project by Kate Vass Galerie pairing a generative artwork by Manoloide with credits for 137 onchain artists. In November 2025 he opened his solo exhibition “Kleur” at Boldhalle in Brno, Czech Republic, curated by Jana Bernkopf, in which photography-inspired gradients and AI-assisted color studies explored taste rather than technical skill. That same year he also exhibited at Art Basel in Basel.
