OONA is an anonymous performance artist who has worked behind a mask and veil since 2021 to interrogate how the female body is seen, owned, and commodified.,,Her research-based practice began at Central Saint Martins, where she studied how lens-based media such as CCTV shapes perception and contributes to the othering of marginalized groups.
In 2022 she staged Milking the Artist at Art Basel Miami with the artist Lori Baldwin, auctioning a glass of her breast milk before a crowd of roughly 700 people against the backdrop of a shortage in baby formula in the United States.When journalists asked for proof of a sale, she had a wallet under her own name buy the glass for 50 ETH, using the transaction to question how blockchain transparency can itself be staged.
She debuted Look Touch Own at Annka Kultys Gallery in London in 2023, inviting audience members to touch her bare breasts and the silicone implants she had removed.Data from the first 300 touches became 300 individual on-chain artworks minted on Manifold.,She received the Playboy and Sevens Foundation grant for the Art of Gender and Sexuality for the work.The performance drew on Valie Export's Touch Cinema and Marina Abramović's The Artist Is Present, and she has described her body as an interface for questioning how beauty and consent are programmable.In the video work This Technology Is Outpacing Our Ways of Seeing, released via Transient Labs, she spliced nude NFT portraits into 1970s advertising imagery to extend John Berger's critique of the male gaze into the NFT art market.
In November 2024 she released Moo, Milk, Marfa on Art Blocks during Art Blocks Weekend, a set of fixed editions tied to a performance using breast prostheses that translated her heart rate into digital scribbles.,,,Her work Touched (2024–2030) was included in Christie's Bridging Worlds auction for UNHCR alongside artists including Erick Calderon, Sasha Stiles and Mario Klingemann.
Since 2019 she has used UK data access law to request her own CCTV footage from Transport for London. In 2025 she began publishing the correspondence as Dear David, a video and performance series addressed to the transport authority's data manager.The series was released through objkt.com, and became the solo exhibition “Dear David: A Surveillance Love Story” at Schlachter 151 in Berlin in 2026.
