Touched is a dynamic artwork that tracks G7 asylum trends from 2024 to 2030. In Touched, OONA’s hands visualize G7 nations’ asylum trends using data provided by the UNHCR API.
Open hands reflect increased asylum acceptances, closed hands indicate rejections, and the number of hands displayed annually tracks changes in the total number of refugees and people in refugee-like situations.
Touched is a living artwork that will run for six years, from 2024-2030. Each year the artwork will update dynamically in response to ongoing developments in asylum policies and the growing refugee crisis.
The Group of Seven (G7) is an intergovernmental political and economic forum comprising seven major advanced economies: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
