Mayowa Lawal (Nigerian, b. 2002) is a multi-genre artist working in photography and digital art, building surreal, instinctive images around the romance of style and color.,He lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria, and has named his brother, a photographer, and his mother, who works in the Ankara textile trade, as influences on his practice.
In a 2024 feature for The Guardian, Lawal described creating the photo series Folasade, shot on an iPhone 12 Pro, as “an opportunity to depict my perception of femininity”. For the shoot he collected flowers from his parents' garden to form a carpet of fallen rose petals, which he described as “a constant reminder of life's impermanence”.Artcrush Gallery included him among the artists exhibited in “The Netherlands”, a showcase that put digital art on outdoor billboards in public spaces.
