Dowbak's visual style was shaped by his father, Damon Dowbak, a visual and stained-glass artist who helped him develop his thick line-blocking technique. He played music in the collective Sideways alongside fellow Thunder Bay musicians Rob Benvegnu, who records as La+ch, and Coleman Hell, and developed much of his drawing style while working on their album covers. At the encouragement of local artist Ray Atwood, he started drawing on an iPad with Procreate in 2017 and opened an Instagram account that July, which has since grown to more than 175,000 followers.⁵

In April 2021 Phillips auctioned REPLICATOR, the first NFT the house had ever offered, opening at $100. The work was designed to generate new, unique NFTs from itself every 28 days across seven generations, with each generation producing fewer offspring than the last until the line ended. Dowbak described it as “the story of a machine through time”, a metaphor for modern technology's continuum.² REPLICATOR followed his Crash + Burn series and coincided with his inclusion as a headliner in “Virtual Niche”, billed as the world's first major NFT exhibition, at UCCA Labs in Beijing alongside Beeple and Fewocious.^2,6

His debut solo exhibition, in Tokyo, featured 15 new works alongside retouched classic pieces and drew on Asian culture and the wilderness he grew up around in Ontario.⁵ Xero Alley, 2022, pairs his visuals with audio by La+ch and sound design by David Angell in what he described as an everlasting dream reality.³ Dowbak's open edition Forever Mart minted 4,532 copies.⁷ He has also designed NFTs in collaboration with the VR46 Racing Team, auctioned through Sotheby's for MotoGP, and a free NFT collection for the Mercedes Formula 1 team.^8,9
