Bio

Kai, the professional name of Kaigani Turner, is a digital artist and creative director who treats code as his primary artistic medium.^, He lives and works in Los Angeles. His 27-Bit Digital project on Art Blocks revisits the memory constraints and pixelated displays of early home computing, a subject he has described as autobiographical.

He has a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Stanford University, and coding has long been a hobby rather than a profession for him.^,

Kai collaborated with the artist IX Shells on Bitwise Archetypes, a fixed series of 16 pieces exploring Jungian archetypes, including LOVER, MOTHER and CHILD.^,^, The series drew on influences ranging from Carl Jung and the I Ching to Afro-Caribbean masks and Goethe's Theory of Colors, with sound design remixed from a ByteBeat track. He also collaborated with the musicians dadabots on ♫ ByteBeats, released through Art Blocks Factory.

He founded MeebitsDAO and mxtter.art, an artist incubator focused on collaborative, experimental and generative art across diverse communities and genres. He has served on the advisory boards of Doodles, National Lampoon and NFT42. In 2021 his work was included in “Proof of Art”, a museum exhibition on the history of NFTs and digital art curated by Jesse Damiani at the Francisco Carolinum in Linz.
