HumNyaWe
Bio

I always have been drawn to the oddness and uncomfortableness rather than typical "horror." I find pleasure in the bizarre and unsettling feelings, particularly those found in Japanese films and novels. Beauty often ends with being just that, something pretty, where as discomfort and unease leave a lasting impression. This desire to explore and convey these lingering sensations that led me to embark on the artistic journey of HumNyaWe. It is hard to define HumNyaWe’s artworks as a simple category, much like the unique name of the artist, who aspires to become [HumNyaWe] - one-of-a-kind and be remembered as an irreplaceable genre in the art world. HumNyaWe's use of color is Influenced by the ‘Cyberpunk’ genre, reminiscent of video game artwork. The colors are vivid and saturated, yet instead of brightness, they conjure images of rainy days, as if the scenes have been submerged in water and then brought to the surface. The artist's signature, the EYEBALL, serves as a reflection of both the artist themselves and "everyone." The diversity in human appearances is largely attributed to eyelid shapes and skin textures, as the inner structure of eyeballs remains primarily similar. The ‘EYEBALL’ in Hmnyawe's works doesn't aim to identify specific individuals; instead, it invites viewers to inhabit HumNyaWe's universe while simultaneously observing the world through the artist's eyes. It's like playing a video game character and seeing the world through their perspective. HumNyaWe initially began her creative career with Photoshop-based digital collage work. Today, she creates 2.5D Digital Art, which combines 2D collages involving cutting and pasting various objects to construct compositions and 3D elements, such as space, texture, and dimensionality. The notable art collections of the artist include the [The Hoom] series, centered around the concept of a "room," the [EYEGG(눈알걀)] series, a visual fusion of "eyeballs" and "eggs," and [The Human Tales] series, a reinterpretation of classic folk tales through the lens of Hmnyawe's unique vision. Additionally, there are various 2.5D art and digital collage pieces created based on the artist's emotions and inspirations at the time.
