Harto (Spanish, b. 1993) is a multidisciplinary designer and artist who makes generative code art, much of it inscribed on Bitcoin through the Ordinals protocol, drawing on nature, theatre and new technology.,,,Born in Barcelona, he trained in industrial design, graduating in 2016, before leaving a theatre company in 2020 to move into digital art and NFTs.,
Harto curates for Vivid Gallery, a gallery devoted to generative art on Bitcoin Ordinals.,His first Ordinals collection, SATS, comprised 99 generative works built from a grammar of cubes, planes and lines, inscribed in February 2023 among the first 100,000 inscriptions ever made on Bitcoin.In The Golden Ratio, he applied the Fibonacci sequence in code to generate compositions based on that proportion, a recurring interest of his practice.,Some of these inscriptions carry negative index numbers because of an early bug in the Ordinals protocol, a rare and unrepeatable flaw collectors prize as cursed.He has named Joe Pease, Rip Cache and Medusa among the artists he admires.
For “The Art of Ordinals” at Asprey Studio in London in April 2024, he made Finestra, a five-piece p5.js collection referencing the stained-glass windows, or vitralls, of Barcelona's modernist architecture, inscribed with recursive child-parent provenance.FloraForms, a later collection, was produced in partnership with the Belvedere museum.
Harto's work has been exhibited in New York, Miami and Hong Kong,,and the Sigg Art Foundation presented him at Digital Art Mile in Basel in 2024.In Barcelona, he has taken part in the Mostra d'Art Generatiu (MAGBa), including its 2024 editionand the 2026 edition, “Orígens”, which paired generative works from the 1970s with contemporary practice.,He has also helped launch the first NFTs into space with SpaceX and NASA.In 2026 he took part in the fourth phase of Digital Mythology, an edition series released through 8NAP Art on Superchief, alongside 0009 and Rebecca Rose.
