erre, known as Eluart (Mexican, b. 1977), is a multidisciplinary artist based in Mexico City whose practice moves between digital and physical painting. His work blends mechanized processes with traditional techniques into dynamic compositions that explore the tension between automation and human expression.The paintings return often to the search for visual references and the persistence of memory.
Barajas studied at the Ecole d'Arts de Rueil-Malmaison in France from 2000 to 2003, then at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris from 2003 to 2007. He received the Jóvenes Creadores grant from Mexico's FONCA in 2009 and 2010.In his own account, the search for a more effective form of dialogue between a still image and one in motion has pushed his research toward animation and sculpture as parallel paths. He calls the resulting works “microfilms”, pieces meant to move him past the monotony of photography and closer to the pictorial phenomenon.
In the 2025 exhibition “Ruido Influencia” at Galeria Espacio Libre in Mexico City, he treated historical sculpture as a tool for approaching volume within painting, shaping form the way a sculptor would.,Digital painting, in turn, supplied chromatic intensity and presence. The show brought together paintings made in 2024 and 2025 as records of that exchange between digital and physical processes.Earlier, in 2011, he took part in the group exhibition “Creación en Movimiento” at the Anahuacalli Museum and the Centro Cultural de Morelia Michoacán in Mexico.He has released digital work through platforms including Objkt, Zora, Rarible and Transient Labs.
