Elena Lazutina is a Russian artist, illustrator, and designer based in Georgia, with more than twenty years of experience in vector illustration, graphic, and industrial design. Since 2022 she has used AI and animation tools to make images of architecture and invented objects, drawn to their “form, materiality, and rhythm” as well as their strangeness.,
Her project Color of Happiness, released on objkt in 2022, depicts pastel, dollhouse-like buildings in the visual language of mid-century editorial illustration, with grainy textures and flat color fields recalling 1950s-70s magazine spreads and travel posters. A critic reading the work described its pastel geometries as a form of “emotional architecture”, staging an accessible, modest idea of happiness rather than a grand or symbolic one.
In 2022 Lazutina began working under the joint label TwelveBrunches with her husband and longtime creative partner Iv Solyaev, splitting roles so that she handles the visuals while he develops sound, story, and technical structure. Under that label they made R▲ND✜M⦿P☻LIS, an AI-generated universe of characters whose individual stories, written into each token's description, reveal unexpected interconnections across what the artists call “a parody of our own reality”.
In 2023 a newsletter roundup named her among six emerging AI artists to watch, highlighting a project in which she recreated iconic magazine covers in AI-generated form.
