Ceren Su Çelik is a Turkish artist who uses AI, 3D animation and 3D photogrammetry to explore memory, identity and the transformation of the body.,She studied painting before turning to digital tools, drawn by a wish to render three-dimensional volume and depth that flat painting could not fully achieve.
Educated at Marmara University and, later, Yeditepe University in Istanbul, she often builds work around cyborgs and hybrid forms, treating what one writer called “a diary between the artificial and the real” as a recurring subject.,Earlier projects such as Primordial Soup and Synthetic Spider explored identity, memory and technology through a mix of physical and digital media, drawing on the philosopher Gilles Deleuze's idea of constant transformation.
An earlier work imagined a fictional woman living in Istanbul in 1915 who photographed people sheltering in the city's ancient cisterns during air raids, combining video, AI-generated imagery and 3D photogrammetry of the cisterns themselves. She returned to those same cisterns, along with the communal roundhouses of the Fujian Tulou in China and the underground cities of Cappadocia, for Inhabiting the Threshold (2024), a 3D-photogrammetry environment in which motion-captured figures move through the spaces in a dreamlike way.The Museum of the Moving Image, partnering with Tezos, selected her by public vote for its Community Curation initiative, screening the work on its Schlosser Media Wall in early 2025, curated by Regina Harsanyi.,,In May 2025, she released the piece as a five-part drop on objkt.one, offering collectors editions, open editions, an auction and a unique work.
