BlackBoxDotArt is the working name of the UK-based artist Sparrow Read, a software engineer, encaustic wax artist, and digital artist. She explores the latent space of Generative Adversarial Network algorithms and other digital manipulation techniques to create artworks she describes as a collaboration between human and machine. She is the founder of Women of Crypto Art (WOCA) and has served on the Artist Council of the Museum of Crypto Art.
In 2020 she contributed a figure to First Supper, a 13-artist collaborative NFT minted on Async Art that reimagined the Last Supper, alongside artists including XCOPY, Hackatao, and Matt Kane. She is also an artist on DADA.art and a member of several collectives, including TXU, STATELESS, and the 105 Collective.
