backseats is an onchain builder and NFT creative who creates generative collectible projects and tools on Ethereum and Base. They co-created Chonks, a fully onchain, CC0 profile-picture collection on Base, and built BasePaint Bot, a tool for automatically minting BasePaint's daily community canvases.
With marka, backseats released Farewell Fro, a crosschain mint for Chonks that pulled minters' data from Snowfro's Relic contract on Ethereum through a crosschain protocol and turned it into new, generative hair traits collectible on Base. BasePaint Bot, which backseats built with Sammy Bauch, lets collectors load ETH and automatically mint BasePaint's daily community canvases over a set subscription period, with the option to cancel and withdraw funds early. backseats has also written about their own missteps as a developer, in an essay titled The Story of My First and Worst Smart Contract.
