Adi Oohgaga is a musician, photographer and artist based in Frankfurt who uses generative adversarial networks (GANs) to create morphing, often haunting figures and portraits. The artist, who works online as @oohgaga_, has described the practice as “trying to find the heart in GAN”.
Electric Artefacts included Adi Oohgaga's Dance like you sold 9999 among its June 2021 picks of the month, describing it as morphing and dancing figures made with a generative adversarial network. The work was part of the hic et nunc #HENthousand challenge, in which artists minted an edition of 10,000 pieces at one tez each and burned the unsold copies after 24 to 36 hours. In response to attention concentrating on the challenge's most popular artists, Adi Oohgaga called for other artists to use the #9999left hashtag to highlight lesser-known participants. Together with aljaparis, Adi Oohgaga then compiled a list of the challenge's participating artists to spotlight the less visible entries.
