Ada Ada Ada, born Ada Hyldahl Fogh (Danish, b. 1992), is an algorithmic artist, writer and speaker based in Copenhagen who works with gender, queerness and the body as perceived by computers.,Her practice spans performative photography, video, generative art, net art, writing, interactive installations and live AI performance, and her own experience as a trans woman has been a throughline since the beginning.
From January 2021 to March 2023 she ran in transitu, a weekly Instagram self-portrait project documenting her gender transition that doubled as a #freethenipple project by testing when Instagram would flag her nipples as female. The project's photos, taken in her bedroom on her phone, were removed by Instagram's moderation on March 30, 2023, and she also submitted them to gender-recognition AI programs, posting each verdict as a challenge to “the power structures of the people who make them”.
On the platform fxhash she has released a series of generative works that turn demographic data into abstract compositions, including Transition: Multidimensional and Transition: Omnidimensional (2022), which render her own gender transition as shifting geometric and iridescent forms rather than a line from one fixed point to another.Barriers (2022) visualizes the legal status of homosexuality, same-sex marriage, same-sex adoption and gender-change recognition in different countries as nested, colored circles, while Representation (2022) maps the gender split of national parliaments using data from the Inter-Parliamentary Union.,
In 2015 she co-founded the interactive art studio Circuit Circus, going solo as an artist in late 2021.In 2022 she contributed a work built around text and language to BRIDGE, a collaborative generative art project in which more than 25 fxhash artists took turns coding into a shared GitHub repository, organized by Camille Roux.She has since held solo exhibitions including “NODE” at Gallery Office Impart in Berlin (2023) and “PRUST” at Kulturnatten in Copenhagen (2022), and shown work in group exhibitions such as the “Sublime Shift” NFT Biennial across Berlin, London, Tokyo, Istanbul and Los Angeles (2023).
