Acid Boy makes paintings and digital works composed of elaborate, brightly coloured shapes and patterns that form intricate optical illusions.The name belongs to Pat Cantin, a painter based in Montreal, Quebec, who has worked full-time as an artist since 2012.,He has carried that approach into digital art, releasing work on platforms including SuperRare, Foundation and Gamma.io.
Cantin was originally from outside Montreal. He moved to the city in 2002, where he immersed himself in the local art scene and developed his style.In his own description of the abstract painting practice, he calls the work “a personal journey into the depths of identity, vulnerability, and strength”.His digital works include Singularity and Echoes VI, pieces that carry the same illusion-based, brightly coloured style onto NFT platforms.
