During my exploration of the NFT space, I began experimenting with new technologies to create unique artworks for this new digital medium. Yamashita GAN is a series of 1/1 NFTs created from 2-3 source images and then blended using Generative Adversarial Networks (or GANs for short) to create entirely new works by training a unique machine learning algorithm on over 1,000 of my favorite photos from places including Jiuzhaigou, Daisetsuzan, Taklimakan Desert, Wulingyuan, and other locations I have shot over my 40 year career. The resulting images are fragmented, abstract new works of art, derived from my original photographs but birthed entirely in the digital realm.
