Description

The "World Maps" were born of my attempts to reflect on growing up and finding my way into queerness and biracial identity without having the language or tools that kids have today.

The maps punctuate different moments in my emotional landscape and understanding: watching queer movies, being bullied for queer tendencies, being bullied for being biracial, and being preyed on by internet strangers with the advent of instant messaging and chat rooms, key moments in history, and more. Maybe you experienced these things too?

Just like identity is constantly in formation and doesn't sublimate, neither do these pieces. They are snatches of memory, vignettes of experience. As memories fade in and out, so does the text, straining legibility.

These pieces began as text blocks and lines, and were brought to their full realization in collaboration with Thailand-based designer Yaya Thirada (https://yayathirada.com/). B&W versions of these poems appear in my forthcoming book Negative Money.

Each piece has an alternate rendering and they are priced to collect. Collectors who collect all 5 listed pieces will receive the alternative versions as a gift.
