We found ourselves in the middle of a storm. The rain was pounding the windshield as we drove from a family reunion in Ladysmith back to my dad's house in Phillips. The deluge was so strong the windshield wipers couldn't keep up.

We pulled over to the side of the road, hoping that no one would come upon us too fast and rear-end our car in the blinding rain. Our only other option was to keep going and risk driving off the road on a curve we couldn't see.

Then, as if someone had turned off the faucet, the rain just stopped.

My husband put the car in gear to continue our journey.

“Stop!” I shouted, louder than I should have in a car with a sleeping toddler.

I pointed out the window where a giant rainbow spanned half the clouded sky. Beams of light shone through the colorful arc reaching to the ground as if from heaven.

“Where are we?” I asked, gesturing toward my husband’s phone and the all-knowing GPS.

“Looks like Harmony,” he said.
