Winter Symphony Series consist of five “digital ebru” paintings specially created for Kew Studio’s 2022 Winter Exhibition. The traditional ebru (paper marbling) technique consists of sprinkling and stirring paint on the surface of a bath sized with kitre (gum tragacanth) in a tray. The floating painting is then transferred to the paper creating a unique print. Inspired by traditional ebru art, Winter Symphony paintings explore how digital tools can be used to open new horizons for traditional art.
