Description

Sonnet Number One: begging the subject to procreate, and not deny the world his lineage.

Perhaps his most famous is “Shall I compare thee to a Summer’s day?” but there are 153 other sonnets (each 14 lines in length) by William Shakespeare that were published together in a quarto in 1609. It has always been my dream to record all of them in a collection. I fell in love with Shakespeare at Oxford and then at LAMDA, went on to play Hamlet in the West End, and tour internationally with Cheek by Jowl. I worked with Oscar-winning director Ridley Scott on Raised By Wolves, and have recorded over 50 audiobooks.
