Description

Original photographs by Jessica Cardelucci

Wild mustangs are protected under The Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 but today in an effort to control the population the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is rounding horses off our public lands, taking away their freedom. These efforts come with much controversy in how to properly and humanely manage these cherished mustangs.

After the passing of Jessica's horse she turned to photographing the wild mustangs as a way to reconnect with these beautiful animals. While these horses are stuck in the crossfire of an emotional and controversial struggle, she encourages the viewer to take interest in the mustangs and help preserve their place on our lands. Mustangs are living symbols of the American West and these images are a tribute to them.
