The cold within me pours from my eyes; my tears freeze before they ever reach the ground.
I have always loved the cold and the frost, but this time, it is the coldness of sorrow that burns all the way to my bones a cold that did not come from outside, but grew somewhere deep within me.
Among these frozen caves, I am not alone. The little frogs around me whisper softly:
“Stay alive. This cold will not last forever.”
And the glowing pearls scattered through the darkness seem to carry another promise:
“One day, you will shine. One day, your time will come. You will make it through all this blue.”
So I stay.
In the heart of this merciless cold, in a world that has turned entirely blue and grey, I hold on to the hope of a day when I will remember what it feels like to be more than my sorrow.
