In "Way to Work," I explore the hidden beauty and undiscovered details on my way to the kindergarten, where I work as an educator, using the camera of my smartphone. This project, starting on the morning of March 6, 2024, focuses the lens on spaces that exert a magnetic effect on the viewer, despite their lack of conventional appeal.
The conscious choice to photograph exclusively in black and white aims for a timeless aesthetic that emphasizes the texture, contrast, and profound emotionality of urban scenarios. This aesthetic decision highlights the structure and essence of the subjects, far removed from the distraction of colors.
By presenting these often perceived as unsightly urban scenes in black and white, I challenge conventional beauty standards and encourage viewers to discover the unique aesthetics of these places from a new perspective.
I want the viewers to think about the environments that shape our daily paths—especially those that children cross on their way to educational institutions.
The aim of this project is to awaken a comprehensive awareness for these often-neglected places and to underscore the importance of our commitment to improving urban spaces, thereby enhancing the quality of life for all generations living in them.
