On July 21, 2023, a storm raged over the Santa Rita Mountains east of Green Valley, Arizona. The storm's outflow brought winds over 50 miles per hour to the valley below and left me wondering how I would be able to keep my camera stable on the tripod. I hunkered down under the tailgate of my SUV and hoped for the best. But little did I expect a creature from another world to electrify through this rainbow portal and materialize as if reaching out with lightning arms. I've never seen lightning this unique in my history of chasing since 2015. It truly was a remarkable sight to see.
