Paraphrenia is a chronic psychotic disorder similar to paranoid schizophrenia, but with a better-preserved affect and relation and a much less personality deterioration. Characterized by an organized system of paranoid delusions with or without hallucinations (the positive symptoms of schizophrenia) and without deterioration of intellect or personality (its negative symptom).
