"THE ART OF PERMANENCE" Chapter 1

Created in 2010, this is the first painting that explored a very specific style that was later developed in film and commercial projects like Disney’s TRON: Uprising, Into the Spiderverse, Love, Death & Robots's : "The Witness", and Ubisoft’s Watchdogs Legion Cinematic Tipping Point. It is the beginning of an era in Alberto’s career, and a keepsake of a remarkable inflection point.

From Alberto: “Fearless triggered my inspiration to do an NFT. This piece lives within a folder with work in progress, drawings, and video references that I take to complete the final piece. When I opened up Fearless I saw a picture of myself from 11 years ago contained in one of the layers of the photoshop file. I could clearly see the age difference and the passage of time. But the file had not aged at all, still is and will be exactly the same as the day I finished it.

It also inspired me to search through my archives to find the ORIGINAL pencil sketch. When I looked at this sketch- it bore all the markings of time’s passing: smudges of pencil, coffee stains, and the wrinkles of time. This stark contrast between the pencil sketch and the digital file triggered me to explore digital preservation, archiving. In essence The Art of Permanence”
