Analogic procedure: multiple, overlapping laser cut images projected with an overhead projector. For this project, the visual artist Sara Bernabucci explored the rich texture of jades, re-created and re-interpreted using different media: paper, gold foil, digital photography, laser cut surfaces. Her works are like imaginary landscapes, they are 'jade-scapes'. "These digital paintings are the result of my in-depth exploration of the richly textured surfaces of some archaic jade discs. The process of creation of the first painting began with an analogic procedure (graphite on paper) where multiple, layered images were super-imposed and then digitally elaborated to re-create the internal structure of jade. The other two paintings are further developments of this interaction of patterns and textures utilizing laser to cut through certain areas of the design and then an overhead projector to project the elaborated images".
