"Tessella" is a celebration of colour, shape, and structure. Each piece is generated through code, arranging shapes and layers in a precise yet randomised way. It’s about how colours interact, shapes stand apart, and patterns emerge with balance and intention.
The artwork features gradients, solid shapes, and outlined forms, all arranged without any overlap. Each element has its own space, creating a clean and organised feel. Stroke styles vary, with most shapes having solid lines and rarer pieces featuring dotted or dashed patterns. Occasionally, shapes are left unfilled, adding contrast to the design. Shadows, when present, enhance depth and complexity, appearing in forms like glowing, inner, or drop shadows.
Rarity plays a significant role in "Tessella," with every piece offering its own blend of traits:
- Colour Palettes: From subtle tones to bold and striking combinations, some palettes appear more frequently, while others remain elusive.
- Stroke Styles: Solid strokes dominate, but dotted and dashed strokes emerge as rare highlights in select pieces.
- Shadows: Shadows add dimension, with the appearance and type of shadow—whether glowing, inner, or drop—being a unique aspect of each artwork.
- Minimalist Layouts: A minimalist design, where a portion of the grid is intentionally left blank, adds a rare and striking simplicity.
Built with HTML and p5.js, "Tessella" is a fusion of creativity and technology. With countless combinations of colours, shapes, and layouts, no two pieces are alike. Each one is a snapshot of randomness, balance, and artistic precision.
