Dopamine is the chemical that controls pleasure in the brain. It's secretion occurs during pleasant situations, it stimulates humans to seek that pleasant activity or occupation. This means that food, sex, and various drugs that can be abused are also stimulants of dopamine secretion in the brain, in certain areas such as the nucleus accumbens and the prefrontal cortex.
