A generative take on the techniques of Damien Hirst’s famous Spin paintings.

Each spin painting is unique, but share a common algorithm.

This work is about translating a real-world painting technique into digital , generative form. Unique blends of colour and shape are created by generatively assigning each work a set of traits that guide the process. The number of rotations, brush sizes, colour palettes and framing all add to the result.

Traits: Blend mode – 5 different modes for blending colour Density – how many brushes Colours – 5 different palettes Spin count – how many spins to create the piece Spin direction – what direction it spins Frame – Mostly white, but also a rare special tunnel effect
