This interactive game-poem was created for Bar CodeX, Wen New Atelier’s exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon (macLYON) presented at the macBAR and curated by Marlène Corbun. The Space Bar Invaders collection is presented in partnership with Art on Tezos.

This artwork contains a unique 5-word poem, with one word embedded in each line. Using a single key, the space bar, players must shoot the superfluous letters to reveal the words and compose the poem. This piece, and the collection as a whole, are a ludic exploration of empty space as a fundamental condition of language and meaning.

In line with one of the exhibition’s key themes of bar culture and its codes, Space Bar Invaders come in the form of drink coasters with secret codes that enable participants to collect a unique edition of the game-poem. Each coaster thus functions as both a physical trace of the exhibition and a key to unlocking a specific digital piece.
