Cayo Costa is a barrier island north of Captiva Island, Florida. It is only accessible by boat or kayak and exemplifies the best of "Old Florida" ... natural wilderness and a sense of remoteness. I took this photo of a brown pelican perched on a snag (dead standing tree) during a family day trip/boating excursion in 2014.
