Description
As with all other works in this collection, silent stories is created to hold presence. It is the artistic practice of indulging in stillness with friends and imbibing in a sort of communication that didn’t need to be heard but felt. In The Diary, Siby held a stare with me for over thirty seconds before looking away. While this stare ensued, we performed a speaking and listening. It was as though she was reading a page out of her diary while I, behind my lens, was listening. This piece reflects periodic tonal shifts through this exercise. It was shot on 35mm using the multiple exposure techniques. The goal there was to reflect her many phases through this narration without separating those phases from the wholeness of her being.
