He thought wasted time would look empty.

It was filled with effort. Trying again. Waiting longer. Repairing. Forgiving. Starting over.

That was why it took so long to recognize.

He had not wasted years by doing nothing. He had wasted them by giving everything to something that could never become what he needed.

Now the sand keeps falling.

Not around him. On him.

And the only question left is what to do with the time that remains.
