The second chapter of a sci fi AI film by Kika Nicolela & Thomas Israël.
The posthuman universe of the Kika Nicolela's series is expanded in a fragmented short film, written and animated by Thomas Israël. Music, voice over, animation and images were created in collaboration with different Artificial Intelligences.
“Long before my time, in this realm of steel, fume and rust, life re-formulizes its means, shapes and purposes, reinventing itself in unseen forms.
Machines with fractured consciences, tried to fuse together to create new life, to become sentient.
In the process, my ancestors absorbed the cryogenized human flesh. I believe this longing for flesh came from a desire to feel like the humans… Nostalgic of an idea abandoned in their silicate memory so long ago.
This uncanny nostalgia became a drive, it gave them a purpose: enchanting their circuit with pain and joy. They became beings of flesh and silica - Cyborgs.
In my opinion, in this ruined world, pain must have been their overwhelming experience, by far, and for a long time.”
