I'm going to write about this collection as a whole as there wasn't enough room in the descriptions to do that properly. This "ROJŌ KANSATSU" project is a kind of a more concentrated effort of what I had been doing when I traveled and made artwork using pictures I took. My personal life has changed recently and I suddenly went from being around somebody almost 24 hours / day to being completely alone (due to family, not relationship issues). In order to stay postive and not become a recluse, I came up with this project to get out and be creative while at it. Before when I traveled, I took pictures and used them for collages along with other material I had on hand. For this project, I am going to be more specific and use only the pictures I took on the day along with printed material I have picked up which I use to make analog collages with.

For this piece, I took the train to the Chuō Rinkan station and walked to Minami-Machida Grandberry Park which is 2 train stops from Chuō Rinkan. I had been curios about Minami-Machida Grandberry Park as it's a strange name for a station among the more Japanese sounding names. Apparently, it's a shopping mall that includes the Snoopy Museum and the name is kind of a reference to Peanuts in a way that sounds a bit like Knott's Berry Farm which is the Peanuts themed amusement park in California that I used to go to as a teenager. I walked in the light rain and first there wasn't much to take pictures of, but then it got more interesting as I went through residential neighborhoods. I always seemt to be drawn to bright graphic visuals that exist in real space. The actual Grandberry Park mall was quite overwhelming in a hyper consumerism sense, and I didn't take any pictures there, but I had taken plenty of pictures on the way. This is the first piece and there might be more from this batch of pictures if I manage to make more interesting work.
