Redux Series Drop 2 Pt.1/6 - Recreation of the painting "The Bat Woman" (c.1890) by french painter Albert Joseph Pénot.

This is part 1/6 of an exercise which ended up turning into something greater. The idea behind this was to recreate traditional paintings I'm really fond of as a way of studying the greats since I've never had any "formal" training in the arts. As "rules" for this exercise, I established that I must use my own style and color palette while maintaining the overall essence of the piece. I’ve always admired artists who are able to draw anything while still maintaining their signature style, so in Drop 2 I tried to challenge myself even further by drawing subjects I’m aware I don’t draw too well, such as the female form and plants, and try to bring these subjects into my own style while maintaining the original idea.

All pieces in this series are highly textured 3000x3000px PNGs created in only four colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black), with all tone variations done only using halftones. The color green seen in some pieces was done by overlaying blue and yellow so as to maintain the stipulated 4 color palette.
