Rectangular Harmony (after Paul Klee) is coded with p5.js. It makes extensive use of random ranges of values to create 2D vectors and quads to make up rows and columns of contiguous patches of colors. The color palette is an approximation of Klee's own palette. Each time the sketch runs colors are randomly assigned to patches, x and y coordinates are assigned new random values and larger patches are subdivided with a bias toward the center of the canvas. Rectangular Harmony is inspired by the color harmony paintings by the Swiss-born German artist Paul Klee. Influenced by expressionism, cubism, futurism, abstraction and surrealism he explored color theory and taught from 1921 to 1931 at the Bauhaus school of art, design, and architecture in Germany.
